In the novel I’m reading the main character is Manny Hernandez. He is 14 years old and he has an older brother who can’t keep a job, a dad who is abusive, and an alcoholic, and a mom who doesn’t say much, and just cleans to let her troubles go. The problem Manny faces is he wants to be someone who is respected. Manny wants to be more than a penny,but that is hard when you have a father that’s abusive, and a brother who cant keep a job. This problem impacts the Manny, because with his brother, and father bringing him down with the bad examples they are setting for him it’s very hard to be someone to respect.

The setting of this story is the past tense summer. As Manny tells the story of his summer adventure the first chapter is just explaining about his older brother Bernado, and how he is ruthless. Manny describes how they live in a gang    neighborhood.

2017 Football is the main topic right now, but which team is bringing the most fire….SNIDER. This year Snider’s football teams are big threats. With Snider winning state in 2015 and they are a big deal this year. So far Snider record is 5-0 . Even with the prediction of the Carroll Chargers being the SAC champions which Snider defeated, but who knows what’s in store for this teams  having a state ring for most of their players. So what’s the reason this team is successful in their season, well there’s 3 main reasons coaches, players, and spirit and inspiration.

 

Start with players Snider’s top player’s that’s pick form Wane 15 news channel are their very strong captains Christian Covington starting running back, Micheal Hopper starting quarter back, Kerry Perry offense/defense tight end, and Lawrence Johnson middle defense. These captains have been leading their team very successful so far,  but these players that have to play together they, and  more then just captains as said the speaker of the first game against North side  “The Snider team isn’t just a football team it’s a family they way the captains walk out together you can just tell and that’s what wins games a family not individuals.”

 

Next, coaches Snider coaches Kurt Tippman has been coaching for almost 7 years, so very experienced coach which his quarter back Micheal Hopper states ” Coach Tippman is a very good coach he encourages and pushes us to be better than ever.” Mr.Tippman has made an effort in coaches these young men in football. He has had many of his football players to D1 colleges. Previous player Mac Hippinhammer who received a full ride to Penn State says “Coach Tippman has help me succeed and has been a great help.”

 

Snider’s spirit has always been a fun and exciting. Spirit is an important, because to win you have to believe and want to win and that’s what Snider have. Always Snider has a reason to go out there and play Lawrence Johnson states “We do it for Peytin she is our inspiration.” Peytin was a senior last year who lost her life in a tragic car accident. The team always come out the locker room screaming and running ready to get fired up for that game. When a teammate Is down or can’t play because of injury there always cheering them up anod never let them keep there head down. The team has great meeting before the game, and there always fired up. When good things happen to anyone they are always engorging and have a loud, funny, and cool celebration.

“Snider’s team as really but there effort into this season so far, and their pushing even more, and its very exciting for us parents, and players.” says a football mom in the crowd.\

Also another mom says “These players don’t play as individual’s they play as a family, and that’s what warms my heart the most.”

On Friday nights there is always something to look forward to.. Football games. For Christian Covington this is an amazing thing. Christian Covington senior for Snider #1 running back , who wears #1 is a very hard work in their first game on August 18, 2017 he had 3 touchdowns beating North Sides defense very well which lead the team with a win 59- 7. Then on August 25 against the Caroll Chargers Snider came out with a win 69-7. Christian Covington with 140 yards rushed and 4 touchdowns this was a very good game for the Snider Panthers. As one reporter said “We knew this was going to be a good year, but we never expected Covington to be exploding this big.” Last Friday they faced the Concordia Cadets and he manged 2 touchdowns even after a slight injury in the 3rd quarter with rolling his ankle. Christian Covington has gotten some college offers, but he is not committing until after the 2017-18 football season.

The last book i read was Princess And The Frog, and i liked how Tianna and Naven could be together in the end, even through all the things they had to do, and Tianna got her restaurant that she always dreamed of having. The book I am reading now is called Everything, Everything and it is about this girl named Madeline Whittier who is so ill that she can’t leave the house. When a new neighbor Olly comes along and make her life more interesting.
